English Summary

AvoYo, who jokingly labels herself a “road idiot”, decides to take the QZ children to London for the day without Sir Chimp Kong, feeling sure at first that a quick trip to Waterloo and a simple change of transport will be no trouble. The illusion shatters when she can’t find the right platform, loops the station in confusion, and struggles to process the rapid-fire Tube directions from one of the transport assistants. During that ordeal, her kids unexpectedly stepped up, confidently navigating the route and steering everyone to the Science Museum. After a long, exciting day, exhaustion creeps in, with bags and water bottles almost left behind. When AvoYo and the kids then discover the nearest station entrance is closed, the return journey becomes a stressful maze with hungry, complaining children. Just when AvoYo wanted to give up and call a taxi, she suddenly recognised a route from a past visit, and managed to get them all back to Waterloo, onto the right train, and safely home, earning cheers from the kids, a sigh of relief from Sir Chimp Kong, and a quiet but significant boost to her own independence.
